Product Description

The Martial Trousers are crafted using soft, fine wool. Wool is a natural protein fibre obtained from sheep, which are the oldest domestic animal species, dating back to around 10,00 years ago when primitive humans first covered their bodies with wool for protection. The Martial Trousers features a relaxed flared silhouette, reminiscent of the 80s and 90s Chinese martial arts style trousers, but with a modern twist to the flared hems.

It is fully lined with acetate, uplifting the overall comfort and texture of the trousers. Acetate was first used in France as a varnish for aircraft, acetate was later developed as fibre in Great Britain during 1923, and then as a fabric in the United States in 1924. Acetate is one of the earliest semi-synthetic fibres produced by treating wood pulp or cotton linters with acetate acid and acetylating hydroxyl groups. With a silky soft texture and a lustrous sheen while being moisture wicking and fast drying, it is commonly used as an alternative to silk.

As with all our other products, a batik dyed tab, designed and crafted by Miao Tribe artisans, is tailored into the back pocket of the trousers. An artisan applies a "resist" process on the fabric to generate the unique patterns, whereby specific areas are covered with wax to prevent the dye from penetrating the cloth and leaving deliberate blank spots in the fabric.
